Credit Agricole Lands Starr for Leading Role

Beth Starr joined Credit Agricole’s New York office this week as a managing director in charge of the bank’s asset-backed bond syndicate desk.

Starr had been working until April as head of the capital-markets group at Spruce Finance, a solar-equipment lender that completed a single securitization shortly before her arrival in 2016 but more recently has struggled to stay in business.

Before that, Starr helped shepherd a series of bond deals while working in a similar capacity at education lender CommonBond. She was in structured-product sales at Jefferies prior to that, coming off a long run in which she held a number of senior positions on Lehman Brothers’ securitization team — including head of research. She has spent time at Merrill Lynch as well.

Credit Agricole had been seeking someone to lead its syndicate desk since December, when David Stern left for TD Bank. Sources said the bank conducted an exhaustive interview process, bringing in a number of industry veterans for repeated meetings.
